I am glad this book was completed before her untimely passing.įor those whom have never read the work of Carrie Fisher, she has an abundance of written work that will stand the test of time and speak to everyone. She had vices…She was perfectly imperfect. She is a celebrity that allowed us to see her as a human. For fans of Star Wars, it is interesting to catch a glimpse into the mind of one of the stars during filming-for the rest of us, it is wonderful just to read the experiences of this brilliant woman. Fisher has such a unique writing style and powerful voice. It is raw and at times laugh out loud funny. It is no coincidence that her face donned many of the posters for the rallies across the world to unite women and fuel the fire that is the voice of females. A voice for those who choose to be unapologetically themselves.

A woman so much more than just a Star Wars icon. In December the world suffered a massive heartbreak at the loss of beloved Carrie Fisher. Laugh-out-loud hilarious and endlessly quotable, The Princess Diarist brims with the candor and introspection of a diary while offering shrewd insight into the type of stardom that few will ever experience. And today, as she reprises her most iconic role for the latest Star Wars trilogy, Fisher also ponders the joys and insanity of celebrity, and the absurdity of a life spawned by Hollywood royalty, only to be surpassed by her own outer-space royalty. With these excerpts from her handwritten notebooks, The Princess Diarist is Fisher’s intimate and revealing recollection of what happened on one of the most famous film sets of all time-and what developed behind the scenes. Today, her fame as an author, actress, and pop-culture icon is indisputable, but in 1977, Carrie Fisher was just a (sort-of) regular teenager. When Carrie Fisher recently discovered the journals she kept during the filming of the first Star Wars movie, she was astonished to see what they had preserved-plaintive love poems, unbridled musings with youthful naiveté, and a vulnerability that she barely recognized. The Princess Diarist is Carrie Fisher’s intimate, hilarious and revealing recollection of what happened behind the scenes on one of the most famous film sets of all time, the first Star Wars movie.
